March 2008 Net Worth update

By Mr. Stupid | April 1, 2008

March 2008 Net WorthMarch saw only a slight increase in retirement assets, but a large increase in non-retirement assets. I attribute this to a work bonus plus a recovering stock price. I also collected a debt which went straight to my non-retirement cash reserves.

Misc. Assets, which includes my checking account, autos, outstanding personal debts owed to me, PayPal and other online accounts, had such a big drawdown most likely because I adjusted the auto values down (after getting the excise tax bills) for the year. I also probably hadn’t yet transferred some money out of checking to my main accounts.

I have only limited info on liabilities for February because up until now I only recorded the total liabilities, not the individual amounts. This changed with this month, so I’ll have that data going forward.

Just to clarify “Non-retirement” is cash and stock investments? Nice gain for the month.

Yes, “Non-retirement” is cash, an individual stock, some ETFs, and some mutual funds.

If you really want to know, I got a little ETF crazy in the last couple of years, and I own positions in the following ETFs:

    EEM (Emerging Mkts)
    EPP (PacRim ex Japan)
    IEV (Euro 350)
    FXI (China)
    ILF (Latin Am)

I also have a position in EMC. Should have sold that months ago.

And for mutual funds, which I add $100 or so per month, are:

    GABSX (Gabelli Sm Cap Grw)
    BARAX (Baron Asset)
    JAGIX (Janus Growth & Income)
    JAOSX (Janus Overseas)

I have about $30K in cash, and about $22K in my company’s stock.
