What to do with other people’s rebate checks

By now, you’ve probably seen the payment schedule for the tax rebate stimulus checks. I’ve already figured out what I’m going to do with my rebate check. I am going to put it towards a new car in the spring. And no, I am not going to ask you to buy me the car.
Now, I need to figure out how to get other people to give me their rebate checks. That’s the Stupid way to wealth. Some ideas come to mind.
Clean out the basement
The best time to sell all that crap that’s been collecting in my basement is when other people are feeling flush. So I am planning a massive eBay and Craigslist push the week the first checks go out. I’ve got an old XBox, scanners, printers, monitors, DVDs, games, and small pieces of furniture that I’ll be listing.
Get rid of that old motorcycle
I’ve got a motorcycle I haven’t ridden in 4 years that is gathering dust. I am having the repair shop pick it up this week so I can get it running by the time those rebate checks start hitting mailboxes. Then I’ll list the bike on one of the auto classified sites. I hardly rode the thing when I first got it, so it’s time for it to go. I’ll throw in the saddlebags, helmets, and maybe even my chaps.
Debt collections
One other way I plan on getting some of other people’s rebate money for myself is to call in some markers. I’ve been letting friends who borrowed money skate for too long without making any effort at paying me back. Time to collect. So if someone owes you a wad, I suggest you get on it. And if you happen to know that person’s social security number, then you can tell the exact date that their rebate will be sent.

lol…I love the idea! Never would’ve thought to do this. I guess I should start collecting some of my Ebay loot now…
